Installation & Configuration of CCTV for the Police

Project Challenge

The Kairaba Avenue traffic lights are located in one of the busiest commercial and transportation areas in The Gambia. The high level of daily vehicle and pedestrian activity created a need for improved surveillance and monitoring capabilities to support the Police and strengthen public safety and security.

As part of its commitment to supporting public safety and national security, Unique Solutions implemented an advanced CCTV surveillance solution for the Police at the Kairaba Avenue traffic lights. The project combined modern surveillance technology, reliable network connectivity, and backup power infrastructure to strengthen monitoring capabilities at one of the busiest locations in The Gambia.

Busy public locations require effective security and monitoring systems to help authorities maintain situational awareness and respond to incidents when they occur. The Kairaba Avenue traffic lights represent an important and highly active location where reliable surveillance infrastructure can contribute to improved public safety and monitoring capabilities.

The project required the installation of a reliable CCTV surveillance system capable of providing comprehensive coverage while maintaining dependable network connectivity and continuous operation.

A key consideration was ensuring that the system could continue operating during power interruptions. The project therefore required an integrated power backup solution alongside secure equipment housing and appropriate electrical protection.

The installation also required the integration of surveillance cameras, wireless connectivity equipment, network infrastructure, power backup, batteries, and protective enclosures into a coordinated security solution.

Solution

On March 7, 2020, Unique Solutions completed the installation and configuration of a CCTV surveillance system for the Police at the Kairaba Avenue traffic lights as part of the company's corporate social responsibility contribution toward national security.

The project was carried out in collaboration with Elec 2000 from Senegal. The installation process was completed over two days and involved the deployment and configuration of surveillance, networking, connectivity, power backup, and electrical protection equipment.

The system included high-resolution 2MP 360-degree CCTV cameras designed to provide comprehensive surveillance coverage. An M2 NanoStation operating at 2.5GHz was deployed to facilitate reliable data transmission and connectivity between the system components.

An 8-port NetGear switch was installed to support efficient network connectivity and management. The installation also incorporated a Belkin 6-way extension with integrated breakers and a 3KVA inverter UPS to support stable and uninterrupted operation.

Six 40Amp batteries were included as part of the backup power system, helping maintain system operation during power outages. The equipment was securely housed within a protective enclosure with the necessary breakers and electrical protection measures.

Through the integrated deployment of surveillance, networking, and power backup infrastructure, the project strengthened monitoring capabilities at the Kairaba Avenue traffic lights and contributed to improved public safety and security.
